Trails and Bridges
Construction and Design

Over the past few decades, Land Tech Montana, Inc has built and/or designed hundreds of miles of trails, including many sections of the Continental Divide National Scenic Trail, for the US Forest Service, BLM, various state and municipal agencies, and private land owners. These projects include wilderness trails, built by hand, to ATV specific routes built using modern machinery.

We have built some or the most popular trails in the area, and repaired many more. It is critical that trails be designed from the start by experienced professionals to create trails that are durable, enjoyable and aesthetic.

We do whatever is required and appropriate to complete our projects on time and on budget. We utilize mini excavators on most projects, as well as ATVs or motorcycles, chainsaws, hand tools such as picks and pulaskis, other assorted mechanized equipment, and occasionally helicopters, horses, and mules to get the job done right.

Community Pathways

Many of the urban trails we build are surfaced with compacted crusher fines. This material provides a durable, yet forgiving surface which drains water, reduces maintenance and supports a multitude of user activities. These trails may also be made to meet ADA guidelines.

We also construct asphalt and flagstone pathways, accessible fishing platforms and boat launches, guardrails, vehicle bridges and stone stairways. Finishing touches include fences and gates, directional and informational signs, benches, picnic tables and the installation of recreational and fitness equipment.

Other

The equipment we utilize for trail work is generally designed to be portable, nimble and versatile, so is well suited for a variety of construction and excavation jobs with difficult access. Much of our equipment can be transported using helicopters to reach even the most remote locations. Past projects have included the installation of avalanche control devices, backcountry dam rehabilitation, rock drilling and blasting, erosion and rockfall mitigation structures, retaining walls, stone masonry, concrete work and general excavation and recreational and municipal pond construction.
